Short Arm Cast
A short arm cast is a rigid immobilization device that extends from just below the elbow to the hand, holding the wrist and forearm securely in place while allowing the fingers to move. It is most commonly prescribed for unstable or healing fractures, including distal radius and ulna fractures, scaphoid fractures, severe wrist sprains, and after surgery when complete immobilization is essential. By preventing movement, the cast helps maintain proper bone alignment, protects surgical repairs, and creates the optimal environment for healing.
Volar Wrist Splint
A volar wrist splint is a removable brace that supports the wrist while allowing for swelling, hygiene, and gradual return to function. It is commonly prescribed for mild to moderate wrist sprains, stable or non-displaced fractures, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and during the later stages of recovery following cast removal or surgery. The splint stabilizes the wrist, reduces pain, and limits excessive movement while allowing greater flexibility than a traditional cast.
Thumb Spica Cast
A thumb spica cast is a rigid immobilization device that extends from just below the elbow or forearm to the hand while securely immobilizing the wrist and thumb, allowing the remaining fingers to move freely. It is commonly prescribed for scaphoid fractures, unstable thumb fractures, significant ligament injuries such as Skier’s (Gamekeeper’s) Thumb, and following surgery involving the thumb or wrist when complete immobilization is required. By preventing movement of the thumb and wrist, the cast maintains proper bone and joint alignment, protects surgical repairs, and provides the stability necessary to promote optimal healing and recovery.
Thumb Spica Splint

A thumb spica splint is a removable brace that immobilizes both the wrist and thumb to protect injuries involving the thumb or thumb side of the wrist. It is frequently prescribed for scaphoid fractures, thumb fractures, ligament injuries such as Skier’s (Gamekeeper’s) Thumb, and inflammatory conditions like De Quervain’s tenosynovitis. By restricting thumb and wrist motion, the splint promotes proper healing, reduces pain, and prevents further injury while maintaining function of the remaining fingers.
Ulnar Gutter Splint
Available in both hand and forearm-based splints
An ulnar gutter splint is a removable brace designed to stabilize the ring and little fingers along with the ulnar (pinky) side of the hand and wrist. It is most commonly prescribed for boxer’s fractures, fractures of the fourth and fifth metacarpals or finger bones, and soft tissue injuries affecting the ring or small finger. The splint maintains proper alignment, limits movement of the injured structures, reduces pain, and supports healing while allowing the unaffected fingers to remain functional.
